The Science of Spirituality
Recently I watched a documentary called : 'What the bleep do we know' and it's quite the reason for me to write this composition. According to Wikipedia, 'What the bleep do we know' is a 2004 American film that posits a spiritual connection between quantum physics and consciousness. Amazing, right? The plot follows the fictional story of a photographer, using documentary-style interviews and computer-animated graphics, as she comes to terms with emotional and existential obstacles in her life and begins to consider the idea that individual and group consciousness can influence the material world.
I'd like to share a particular scene when I saw that they had meditators, working towards literally changing the pH level of water. To simplify it, we can say that even a single level change in the pH level inside your body brings out a massive impact or influence in your body functions. Likewise when I saw that, I was awestruck, this stayed with me and started captivating me with it's charm. We all have read or heard the words like: vibrations, aura, cleansing your chakras, samskaras, healing your emotional self, samadhi, deep meditation and some more of terms like these. I craved to know more and more about these expressions.
I desired to discover them on my own, not by reading some 'xyz' books written by famous gurus or spiritual teachers. Yes, reading definitely plays a very important role, but imagine that- you are in a never visited before ice-cream parlour.
When you take the first bite or spoon of your favourite ice-cream, then only you approach towards buying a cup or even better, a tub of it. Right? Because, here we are sure about our choices as we already know the taste of it. In the month of february 2020, I started a new journey, my own spiritual journey to discover life.
Are we really evolving?
What is the purpose of our existence?
What is the ideal way of life?
Do we have our own individual entity?
So many questions, so less time to find the answers to all of them. Aarrgghh! Plus also, we have to study, then graduate, find jobs, perform our duties and responsibilities, and show up to our commitments. Life is tough. The never ending battle between material and spiritual worlds keeps us muddled. Can we actually progress in both of these worlds at the same time? That'll for sure be a 'keeping nose to grindstone' kinda situation for life.
Spirituality has always been a very valuable part of Humanity. When plagues hit, people turned to religion.
When war hits, people pray for and depend on one another.
When we haven't studied the night before a test, all we have to do the next morning is pray for our lives.
Spirituality can be defined broadly as a sense of connection to something higher than ourselves. Many of us think that spirituality is the same as religion but that's not actually true in every sense, though they are very much connected.
Often, religion and spirituality are not understood in the same way, though they often do overlap. Spirituality describes a much broader understanding of an individual's connection with the supernatural and paramount aspects of life.
Many people search for meaning in their lives. The sense of transcendence experienced in spirituality is a universal experience, I think that it comes from a different dimension.
Some find it in monotheistic (relating to the belief that there is only one God) religion, while others find it in meditation. While the understanding of spirituality differs across religions and belief systems, it can be described by finding meaning and purpose in life.
The very first step in this endless infinite staircase of discovering the truth (and answers to all your questions) is to start practicing meditation.
Start with just doing 5- 10 minutes a day, and do it every single day. Do this for 30 days and say 'Bonjour' to your updated version 2.0! It's as effortless as eating a piece of your favourite cake. Since the past 18 months, we all have more or less, practically pretty experienced and understood the importance of our mental and emotional health. We know that when we are not okay from the inside, we cannot give our best at any task. In fact we make simple things more complicated. We make our strong relationships fragile with our people.
If you've managed to reach here, at this part of my article, I welcome you! There is one and only way out to all our problems and sufferings, i.e. GOING INSIDE and becoming one with the Superior Power. This not only gives us a wider perspective to look at things, but also attains us with an abundance of consciousness. Just try it for once! Trust me it will change your life.
